Our Family's Story
The Anderson brother and sister duo was inspired to bring a New York City style delicatessen experience to Cincinnati that they might share childhood memories with you. The Anderson family moved from South Carolina to Brooklyn, New York where their father worked in a bottle capping company. Surprisingly, in their small Brooklyn community no near-by grocery store where people could easily purchase everyday essentials existed. So, Eddie left from bottle capping and determined to open a Grocery Store in his local community.
Anderson’s Supply opened in 1960, a few houses from the family’s home. The store was stocked with staples, but they became known for southern soul food essentials that people who migrated from the south desperately wanted but couldn’t find. Eddie and his wife Caroline became important figures in their community through the cultivation of family-like relationships with their patrons.
Our Inspiration
Tucked in the back of this store was a deli, and this is where Anderson’s New York Style Deli began. The relationship Eddie had with each of his customers was personified in each high-quality sandwich he made. While making a sandwich Eddie always had a smile, a kind word, and included them in the sandwich making process. Ensuring it was made just right for the customer. He never served anything he wouldn’t eat himself and he was not stingy with the meat! So, each sandwich had to be of the highest quality using only the best deli meats, cheeses, and produce.

Now the Anderson duo would like to serve you their rendition of their fathers’ deli. Inspired by other great NYC delis like Katz, Ben’s, and 2nd Ave Delicatessen but served with southern hospitality. So here we are, the one place Ohioans can experience a true New York Style deli sandwich. You don’t have to travel to NYC, we brought it to you! Anderson’s NYC Deli, “…a bite is just like a visit.”
